This week ShUOC has been busy running and dancing! On Friday we attended a Ceilidh, and had a brilliant evening spinning, clapping, and agreeing that most of us can't dance. Thank you @ceilidhsoc for a fantastic event, everyone had a lot of fun!
The same evening, Toby Antcliff took part in a track event hosted at the EIS, and where he flew into 1st place during the 800m event!!! LESS THAN 1 WEEK 'TILL SPOOK!! 3, 2, 1. Go!
This week ShUOC attended the Great Urban Fell Race around Sheffield hosted by SPOOK alumni Tim Tett. On Saturday, a large group of ShUOCers attended Endcliffe Park Parkrun, as well as others who visited other parkruns in Sheffield. Well done to Abbie Walker on a smashing overall 5km PB!! Chloe Potter and Ben Stevens raced for local SYO club, who were 1st in the Cup, and Joseph Goodwin raced for WCOC who placed 7th!! Finally, a massive congratulations to Jessica Harrison, who completed her first ever marathon in the Gower!!!! A great achievement, well done!!!! This weekend ShUOC held its Freshers Weekend in the Lake District!!
The trip got off to a great start with a late night run up to Gummer's How, where bogs reigned supreme and paths up slopes mysteriously dissappeared. On Saturday there was orienteering training around Great Tower, with a great mix of courses for all, and a clock relay to round it all off!! The Forest Alc-O followed not long after, where Dominic Green managed to defend his title as an Alc-O champion, only just fending off Tim Barry who came in a close 2nd, and Will Lake coming in 3rd. Sunday, and ShUOC set off for runs across the Coniston Fells. Despite the clouds being down at the top, the views lower down were still beautiful, making the pain of the hills worthwhile! Earlier in the week, ShUOC has its Spooky Halloween Social Run down Rivelin. Some good outfits!!!! And finally, some members who didn't attend the Freshers Weekend, attended the SYO Orienteering event at the EIS and Olympic Legacy Park. Blue: 2nd Adrien Gallet, 10th Chloe Potter. A big thank you to all who helped organise the trip away this weekend, it was a big task, but it was carried out excellently! |
