ShUOC has had an eventful week, with both local runs and epic trips keeping us busy!!!
On Monday, ShUOC took part in a Salomon Shoe Trial around Rivelin & Stannington - many thanks to the team at Up & Running Sheffield and Salomon!!!! Then on Wednesday many members took part in the next Urban Nights race - The Tipsy Sportsman - with mixed results ranging from those who had an enjoyable run to those who left their dinner behind a bin. Some members also took part in the SYO Loxley Common weekend, racing both in the daylight and the night! But the grand finale of the week was the ShUOC trip to the depths of North Wales! Some made the ambitious trip up the icy heights of Tryfan on Saturday morning to watch the sun rise. Two groups stayed up on the hills, exploring the mountains in the snow, clouds and sun, while the rest went orienteering training! Newborough Forest proved a technical and enjoyable area for o training, and the sunny weather made the seaside setting even more beautiful! Then in the evening we took a trip round Llyn Ogwen, watching the full moon rise. Sunday was an early start, but the views on the runs made it worthwhile. One group ran up from Llanberis across the Glyders, while the other two took alternative routes up a snow topped Yr Wyddfa from Pen y Pass before converging again to race down the Llanberis path. Some incredible photos were taken and energy was sapped dramatically. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the trip and made it an amazing weekend!! ShUOC has been up to a lot this last week!!
ShUOCers have been out orienteering in a range of places! On Thursday we held our selection race for BUCS around the Sheffield General Cemetery and surrounding streets, and then over the weekend various members took part for the their local club in the Compass Sport Cup Qualifiers!
