It's been a busy week for ShUOC in the run up to Easter!!
On Wednesday, we joined the hoards from Hallam and Uni of Sheff travelling to the Utilita Arena for the opening Ice Hockey match of Varsity 2024!!!!!! The results saw Hallam coming out victorious (much to the joy of the two ShUOC Hallam members covertly hidden in the Uni Of stands, and to the despair of the ShUOC Uni Of members)! A brilliant match to watch though for both sides, and well done to both teams!!!! While many members were either screaming or celebrating at the Ice Hockey, others were taking an evening out at the SYO Redmires Night O! Blue: 1st Adrien Gallet, 3rd Joe Thomas, 5th Chloe Potter, 12th Ben Stevens, 39th Liam Overett. Then on Saturday, many ShUOCers competed in the SYO Orienteering at Norfolk Park!! Blue: 2nd Adam Conway, 3rd Dom Green, 5th Chloe Potter, 9th Jack Baker, 18th Abbie Walker, 27th Max Watson, MP Adrian Gallet. And finally, a huge congratulations to all our members who took on the challenging Edale Skyline race across the Peaks!!! On Wednesday, Tim Tett hosted the final Urban Nights race of the year alongside SYO. The Fat Cat Orienteering saw ShUOCers zooming around Kelham and Burngreave, praying they wouldn't get stuck amongst the maze of fences and walls. Long: 1st Adam Conway, 4th Dom Green, 5th Adrien Gallet, 6th Matthew Hall, 8th Chloe Potter, 18th Jack Baker, 20th Rebecca Ward, 23rd Abbie Walker, 24th Liam Overett, 29th Andrew Macdonald Medium: 26th Max Watson On the weekend, some members travelled to the English Champs Fell Race at Flowerscar. 2nd Place Sheffield University 15th Place Sheffield Hallam Last weekend, ShUOC members, from both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam travelled to East Anglia to compete at BUCS! The Saturday evening was an experience to remember, walking through Cambridge decked out in the best Harry Potter outfits Cambridge City Centre has ever seen. Buffets were consumed, beer races were dominated (1st of course!), and the local nightclub made us all grateful for the comparative quality of night life in Sheffield. The relays were hosted at Trumpington Meadows in Cambridge, and although CUOC sent the rain to try and dampen the mood, ShUOC wasn't deterred, and some cracking runs were spectated! Men - 4th Men of Steel, 18th Cripples, mp I bet you look good on the forest floor, mp cRookies. Women's - 4th Cheffing it up, (Ad-hoc team, ShUOC-ish, placed 11th overall in Women's). Congratulations to all our members who competed this weekend, and a massive thank you to CUOC for organising the weekend, as well as NOR, WAOC and EAOA for supporting them. 📸Dik Ng & Most of ShUOC ShUOC has spent its weekend mostly stomping round the streets of Sheffield, dominating the English University Champs 2024!
Some excellent running from both the Sheffield Uni & Hallam members across the weekend! Congratulations to Sheffield University who took home the trophy this year!!!!! Most importantly a massive thank you to everyone who helped organise and plan the weekend, a lot of work was put in but an excellent outcome! Thank you too to those who volunteered at the events! Across the rest of the week, ShUOCers have been spending their time both out running on the hills, (well done to Henry Webb who placed 12th on the Ilkley Moor Fell Race!), or sharpening their brains in a Pub Quiz (well done to team 'Lost Causes' who placed 2nd!). |
