YOUR  COMMITTEE

We're here to make sure you get the most out of both disciplines of orienteering and fell running, and more importantly to make your experience of club sport at the University of Sheffield the best it can be.

"I started Orienteering 9 years ago and am still looking for the first control! When I came to Sheffield I discovered Mapless running (Fell Running) and the amazing community of SHUOC! There's always people to run with, Great personalities and an unwavering belief that we are the best!!"
Talk to him about:
Anything at all! He may be the boss, but he isn't that scary!

Treasurer

Physical Coach
Connor Smith (Architecture)

"Having been and orienteer for 5 years I took up fell running when I joined ShUOC. Both disciplines give me the freedom to explore places and views that many people don’t see. I think the support you get from everyone in ShUOC no matter your ability  is what makes us a great club."
Talk to him about:
Our regular training sessions or if you want any advice about your own training.

Social Secretary
Daniel Gibson (Economics)

Picture
"I first got into running through Parkrun about 4 years ago but only started fell running last year when I came to Sheffield"
Talk to him about:
How to get involved with the social side of the club. What the events are we run, what they entail etc
(As a club we also organise sober socials, such as movie nights so no-one is excluded)

Publicity Officer
Adeola Warner (History and Russian Language)

Picture
"I've been track running since childhood and only discovered fell running last year - the club was super welcoming , encouraging and organised lots of beautiful runs around the Peaks and beyond. Can't wait to spend another year with SHUOC!

Secretary
Andrew MacDonald (Medicine)

Picture
"I used to do a lot of hill walking as a kid and I would see people running around the hills of the lakes and Scotland and I thought that looks pretty cool. So I started running more to try and get fitter so I could cover more ground in one go and see more of the hills in what limited time I have"
Talk to him about:
Any upcoming trips or any organisational side of the club.

Fell Running Coordinator & Inclusions Officer
Eve Pannone (Medicine)

Picture
"I first got into fell running about 3 years ago and since then I've represented both England and GB. I'm looking forward to a second year of running in the peaks of ShHUOC"
Talk to her about:
If you have any questions about fell running, races or social runs.
If you're feeling uncomfortable with anyone in the club or if you're finding it difficult to settle in.
It's okay to not be okay.

Technical Coach
Tom Howell

"Having been an orienteer for 11 years I joined SHUOC when I came to Sheffield as a nice way to continue with the sport. Its been a great way to both continue the competitive side of the sport as well as to get to experience the great social side that there is to SHUOC"
Talk to him about:
Orienteering specific training, if you want any maps for areas or want to know how to improve your navigation skills.

Safety

"I've been orienteering for about 7 years and joined ShUOC 2 years ago. I love to plod around both orienteering courses and a few longer mountain marathons. The best part about ShUOC for me is the social side: never before I drank out of a pepper."
Talk to him about:
How the club ensures everyone is safe out on the fells, on trips and social events.

Kit Officer
Laura Harrison

"Started orienteering when I was going around string courses as soon as I could walk and continued to build up from there. SHUOC has been an amazing experience, meeting friends with the same passions, the social nights are some of the best and even training with a crazy bunch of people in all weather types"
Talk to her about:
Designing and buying kit.
